A few common signs include reading challenges, writing struggles, trouble following directions, homework battles, mixed-up sounds or words, or a recent diagnosis like dyslexia or a language-based learning disability. If you're noticing something that doesn't feel right, it's worth a conversation.

There's a lot of overlap. Both involve language, sound, and structure. As a speech-language pathologist trained in structured literacy, I can address both, often in the same session. That means we don't have to choose between addressing reading and addressing language.

I primarily work with students ages 6 to 18+, from kindergarten through high school. I also occasionally work with adults who have reading or communication difficulties. If you're not sure if your child or family member is a fit, just ask.

Sessions are 60 minutes long, typically 2 times per week. Consistency makes a big difference, especially for students with dyslexia or executive functioning challenges.
